Camp Nejeda boasts a committed, skilled and fun staff, many of whom return year after year to be part of the Camp Nejeda experience.   2. New staff: Obtain three (3) references: Staff Reference Form
    Please send your references the linked form above to complete.

  3. You may then be contacted for interview by camp leadership.

All hired staff are required to undergo a background check.

    The Assistant Camp Director will support the camp's leadership team, including the Camp Directors, Unit Leaders, Activities Director, and Waterfront Director. This position will also play a crucial role in supervising counselors, implementing camp policies and procedures, responding to emergencies, and facilitating camp trips.

    The Unit Leader plays a crucial role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for campers and staff within their assigned unit. They are responsible for supervising counselors, implementing camp policies, managing camper behavior, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Unit Leader must possess strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep commitment to the camp's mission and values.

    This is a full summer position, requiring a minimum of June 18-August 20.

      The Activities Director will play a vital role in the development, implementation, and supervision of all camp activities, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for all campers. This role requires a deep understanding of camp programming, strong organizational and leadership skills, and a passion for working with children in a camp setting.

    • Current lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications from the American Red Cross or an organization having equivalent and accepted standards.

    • At least one year’s work experience at a camp waterfront.

    • Familiarity with pool maintenance, including testing, treating, and cleaning the water.

    • Must be able to work from June 18 – August 15, excluding designated days off

    The Waterfront Director will support the camp's leadership team, including the Camp Directors, Assistant Director, Unit Leaders, and Activities Director.  This position will also play a crucial role for all aquatic activities as outlined in the Camp Nejeda Aquatic Program Manual.

    The LIT Director will support the camp's leadership team in the development, implementation, and supervision of the Leader-in-Training (LIT) program. This role requires strong mentorship skills, experience working with teenagers, and a deep understanding of leadership principles. The LIT Director will foster a positive and challenging environment where LITs can develop leadership skills, gain valuable camp experience, and contribute to the camp community.

    Camp Counselors play a vital role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching experience for campers at Camp Nejeda. Camp Counselors will live with and supervise a group of campers, facilitate their participation in camp activities, and provide support in their diabetes management. This role requires a desire to work with children, patience, compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive camp environment.

    Activity Specialists play a key role in the daily program of Camp Nejeda.  This position will teach specific activities in which they were hired for in addition to regular camp counselor responsibilities.

Health Center Staff

Health Center Assistants and Technology Facilitators are required to attend Staff Training Week (June 21 - 27) in its entirety to be eligible to work. Nurses are trained the Saturday before their scheduled session.

  • Part-Time, Year-Round. Full time in summer months.

    The Health Center Director (HCD) is responsible for staffing, organizing, and supervising the operations of the Health Center for the Camp Nejeda Foundation (CNF). This role ensures that the Health Center functions effectively year-round, maintaining high standards of medical care and supporting the camp’s mission. The primary focus of this position at camp is to serve children in an overnight camp setting over the summer months.

  • Qualifications: LPN, RN with current New Jersey license

    Nurses at Camp Nejeda split three shifts. During which, they provide care for diabetes and other medical issues of campers and staff, including administration of insulin and other medications. Nurses are supported by the on-duty Endocrinologist and resident doctors.

  • Qualifications: Nursing or other medical student preferred.

    The Health Center Assistant (HCA) is responsible for monitoring and charting all of the camper’s blood sugars and alerting the shift nurse of anything that needs to be addressed. The HCA will also direct the campers where they need to go as they walk into the health center, answer phone calls, and perform basic office tasks.

  • Technology Facilitators (TF) have daily shifts where they will supervise campers as they change their insulin pump sites, trouble shoot the insulin pumps as needed, and facilitate all of the pump settings changed by the doctor. TFs also supervise as the campers enter the amount of carbs into their pump before initiating the bolus at each meal and snack.
